GitHub's response was swift. Martin Woodward and Tim Rogers publicly confirmed that these "tips" were indeed being added and that the feature was disabled following feedback. The timeline is very recent: the incident surfaced on March 30, 2024, and by March 31, we were already looking at it as a textbook anti-pattern.
Why This Is More Troubling Than It Seems
