I view Nayjest/Gito as an engineering component rather than just “another PR bot.” The key differentiator is that Gito is designed to find high-probability, high-impact issues—vulnerabilities, bugs, maintainability degradation—instead of flooding you with nitpicks. This changes the economics: we pay tokens for insights that genuinely impact risk and release velocity.
Integration is pragmatic: Gito can be attached to GitHub Actions to run on pull_request, or run locally via CLI on changes. In a typical setup, I’d start with Actions—it’s easier to control where analysis runs and which repositories fall under the policy. Crucially, the tool isn't tied to a single provider, opening a viable path to managing cost and quality, especially if the team handles multiple task types (security vs. style vs. refactor hints).
The second part of the stack is LM-Proxy from Nayjest/lm-proxy. I perceive it as the missing “AI Gateway” layer in the enterprise: a single entry point for all LLM requests, where you can hide application keys, add rate limiting, auditing, metrics, and simply avoid rewriting your entire service zoo when switching model providers.
Technically, this is a classic reverse-proxy/edge-gateway pattern, but for LLMs: App → Proxy (auth, limits, logging, routing) → Providers. For my AI solution architecture, it’s valuable that such a proxy enables caching and smarter routing. If some requests are deterministic (e.g., re-checking identical diffs, repeated prompts for template components), caching drastically cuts token usage and stabilizes latency.
Regarding the third item in the digest—the “UGREEN NAS with NPU and $1000 discount”—I cannot speak with the same confidence yet: available sources lack verifiable details on the NPU, real AI functions, or discount conditions. When I design AI automation around development, I almost never start with “let’s plug ChatGPT into GitHub.” I start with measurable bottlenecks: review time, critical defect count, time-to-merge, load on seniors. Gito is excellent as a “first line of defense”—it comments on the PR before a human spends 30–60 minutes parsing the diff.
Who wins quickly from this tool:
- Teams with high PR flow and distributed development: the bot covers standard risks, leaving design and architecture to humans.
- Products with security requirements: even if an LLM doesn’t replace SAST/DAST, it often catches logical holes and dangerous patterns in the context of changes.
- Outsource/Outstaff: faster onboarding—Gito can explain unfamiliar code sections and highlight “non-obvious” dependencies.
Who loses—or rather, where expectations will break:
- Teams without CI/CD discipline: if a PR doesn’t pass minimal checks, LLM review becomes an expensive toy.
- Projects without a proper threat model and code style rules: the LLM will guess rather than enforce policy.
- Organizations that distribute provider keys across repositories: leaks, uncontrolled costs, lack of audit.
This is where LM-Proxy becomes a foundational element of AI adoption in engineering, not just an “extra service.” In my practice at Nahornyi AI Lab, the same business requirements always surface: limit token budgets, ensure observability (who called the model, when, and why), segregate access, and enable quick switching between providers due to price, quality, or legal reasons. The proxy solves this architecturally, rather than through organizational “don't do that” bans.
Another often underestimated effect: a centralized proxy allows you to collect a corpus of requests/responses for future prompt improvement, rule refinement, and even local fine-tuning (where appropriate). Without this, AI code review remains a black box: noisy, expensive, and unable to learn from its own mistakes.
Strategic Vision & Deep Dive
My forecast for 2026 in this niche is simple: “LLM in developer tools” will cease to be a competitive advantage on its own. The advantage will be manageability—cost control, data control, reproducibility, and compliance with internal policies. Therefore, the Gito + LM-Proxy stack looks not like disjointed repositories, but like the seed of a proper platform.
In Nahornyi AI Lab projects, I see a recurring pattern: as soon as an LLM enters CI, business suddenly asks adult questions—“why did the bill double,” “why are answers inconsistent,” “where are the logs,” “who had key access,” “can we prove code wasn’t sent to an inappropriate jurisdiction.” If the architecture isn’t prepared, the team spends weeks on firefighting. If a proxy layer and call policy exist, scaling happens calmly.
I would build implementation like this: first LM-Proxy as a unified gateway (keys, limits, logging, project tags), then a Gito pilot on 1–2 repositories, then expansion to critical services with different model profiles (cheap for routine, stronger for complex PRs). In parallel—rules: which findings block merge, which only inform, and how the team validates/refutes findings to reduce noise.
The hype trap here is that “AI review” is often sold as a replacement for engineers. In real implementations, I see something else: it’s a discipline multiplier. It brings value when you already have tests, minimal security guides, and PR culture. Then the LLM adds speed and coverage breadth. Without a base, you just accelerate chaos—and pay for it with tokens.
